Doggeros is a small business where they sell Mexican food, but not just traditional Mexican food. This establishment has put there own twist on items in there menu. From Birria Ramen, Birria Fries, and even Hot Cheeto Corn in a cup, Doggeros has every weird yet delicious food you could think of. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping out with what to order. Doggeros is located in Downtown Woodland, more specifically at 437 1st St, Woodland, Ca 95695, for all you thinking of trying it out. One of their most popular items on the menu happens to be the Quesabirria’s with the Consome Broth (Broth is sold separately). The Quesabirria’s are made with medium sized corn tortillas, which are then folded up with some mozzarella cheese and the barrio, then they are topped off with some cilantro and onions. For a better taste, you could also purchase the Console Broth on the side to pair it up with your Quesabirria’s. They also have a burger called a Chori Burger. The burger is made with a beef patty and pork sausage patty, which is placed between two soft buns, guacamole sauce, their signature sauce, onions, tomatoes, and obviously some cheese. Not only did I get a burger, but it came with a side of fries! Although they do not have an outdoor or dine-in option, Doggeros does have curbside pickup and delivery. Delivery option is done through none other than DoorDash. When looking up the menu on Google and Doordash it looks like ordering through DoorDash is cheaper, that is if you have DashPass, if not it might be a lot more expensive. Like I mentioned before if you are ever feeling trendy and happen to be in the surrounding area of Woodland, feel free to visit Doggeros. Poke Fix is a Hawaiian based restaurant located in Sacramento, Ca. The official address for this restaurant is 3880 Truxel Rd #200, Sacramento, Ca, 95834. If you are a sushi fanatic you HAVE to put these directions into your map like right now and start driving to this amazing establishment. I actually discovered this with my sister and we were not sure if we were going to like it so we decided to share a Poke Bowl, and after the first bite we immediately regretted sharing a bowl. I wasn’t sure if it was because we got to build our own bowl or because it was just that good, but ever since that day this has been our go to Poke place. The staff here is very kind and patient when it comes to ordering your food, especially when deciding what to get out of their whole menu. In their menu they include items such as an Ice Cream Sandwich, A Poke Fix Bowl, Poke Bake, and even a Vegetarian Bowl. I believe their most popular item is the Make Your Own Bowl, which comes in a regular size or larger size. The differences between these two sizes are how much protein you can add. The regular includes 3 proteins and the large is 5 proteins. Proteins include Ahi Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Garlic Ahi, Salmon, Shrimp, Yellowtail, Octopus, Tofu, and my personal favorite Japanese Scallops. Fun fact, they are actually the only Poke restaurant to have Japanese Scallops. When trying this restaurant I had the Make Your Own Bowl – Large. I included Sushi Rice, double Japanese Scallops, double Salmon, Ahi Tuna, dried seaweed, sweet unagi, spicy mayo, crab salad, massage, wakame, edamame, sesame seeds, furikake, and seaweed strips. And let me just tell you it was delicious. Now, you must be thinking “WOW that is a lot of food, it must be so expensive.” But, what if I told you that a LARGE bowl only costed $15. The price of the bowl is way cheaper then going to a sushi restaurant and ordering one sushi roll. The cheapest sushi roll a restaurant has is the basic California roll that is what $13. With two more dollars you could get a Bowl at Poke Fix and it will be so worth it, you will not regret it. Due to COVID, this establishment does not offer dine-in services, but they do offer takeout. Also, if you are in its surrounding area they do offer a delivery option through DoorDash. This Japanese restaurant is located at 10 N East St #100, in Woodland, CA. O Teriyaki has been a part of the Woodland Community for 14 years. Although they are a Japanese restaurant, they have expanded their menu and now also serve Hawaiian Food. This establishment is most know for it’s Teriyaki food. They also have daily specials. With that being said I had to try their Teriyaki Dinner Special. This plate is served with white rice, green salad, macaroni salad, Teriyaki Chicken, Pot Stickers, and Spicy Chicken. Side sauces include Teriyaki sauce, Sriracha, Honey sauce, etc. This plate is guaranteed to leave you in a food coma. It is nice and tender and the serving sizes are huge! But, if your looking for an extra kick of spice then you should go ahead and order the Thai Chicken Dinner Special. Other items on the menu include BBQ Short Ribs, Tempura Platter, Chicken Katsu, Sesame Chicken, etc. Not only is the food delicious, but when ordering takeout the service is always spot on. When you call, they answer within the first ring, and once you have placed your order the estimate waiting time is normally 20 to 30 minutes. When arriving at the restaurant you are greeted by the cashier and your food is always ready upon your arrival. You will never complain about it being cold. Like many restaurants now a days, O Teriyaki unfortunately is not open for dine in and surprisingly does not offer a delivery service, but you can always count on them to fulfill your takeout dreams. This restaurant is working on setting up their own website where you could take a look at their menu, history, and hours of service. But, most importantly the website will include a “Order Online” service feature. Heavy D’s Tacos & Carnitas is a small pop up and catering business located in my hometown of Woodland, Ca. Heavy D’s business does pop ups at local bars and on Tuesday’s and Friday’s he does a pop up outside of DMC Garage located at 611 Kentucky Ave, Woodland Ca, 95695. While visiting Heavy D’s I had the opportunity to speak to the man behind the grill and owner of Heavy D’s, David Guevara. David has been in and out of the food industry for about 23 years now. When I asked him why he decided to open up a pop up/ catering he said, “I became sick in July of 2010. I was permanently disabled and needed a way to make some extra income, so I started my catering company.” He also stated that he came up with the idea of Heavy D’s in 2012. Unlike the taco places, Heavy D’s serves different types of meats on Tuesday’s and Friday’s. His menu consists of Tacos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs, and Quesabirrias. Heavy D’s is also keto friendly! They serve keto tacos and or quesadillas. On what he likes to call “Taco Tuesdays”, he will serve the following types of meats: Asada, Adobada or Al Pastor, Chicken, Chorizo, and Birria. While on Fridays, his meat choices include Asada, Adobada, Chicken, Carnitas, and Buche. When I showed up I decided to try the Adobada Tacos and a Carnitas Torta, I forgot to take a picture of the Torta :(, but everything was so delicious. If you do decide to give Heavy D’s a try make sure to load up your food with their delicious green salsa. Like many food vendors COVID-19 had a very negative affect on their business. David mentioned that he “had a full calendar from March 2020 to July 2020”. And what looked to be one of his busiest year every, things took a change for the worst. David stated, “We had thousands of dollars in return deposits as everyone from mid may until June cancelled their events with no intent to reschedule.” As time continues on and COVID-19 seems to become the new normal, David said that he went from events of 100+ people to about 30-40 people events. He has even started to implement COVID guidelines which include using hand sanitizer and gloves, as well as a sneeze guard on the taco cart, and we also can not forget about face masks. If you have the opportunity to come out and try Heavy D’s and enjoy it as much as I do, do not forget to pick up one of his business cards for your next catering event. House Of Shah Afghan Urban Eats:

I recently had the opportunity to branch out of my comfort zone and try out this local restaurant, House Of Shah Afghan Urban Eats, and I did not know what to expect since I have never actually tried this type of food before. But, many of my closest friends recommended them to me, so I decided to give it a try. After going through the menu for quite a while, I decided to go ahead and get an order of their Shah Burger and their Shah fries. Like I said before, I did not know what to expect because on their menu they do place this under “A Little Non-Traditional”, but they added their own personal twist to the burger and fries. The burger was absolutely amazing, not only was it amazing in taste, but also in the size of it. This burger definitely had an old school taste to it. It looked like a simple burger with just some lettuce, cheese, and some ketchup, but what surprised me the most was the actual patty. You could definitely taste all the different types of seasonings they had added, but it wasn’t too much seasonings in a bad way, it had just enough. Since I had never had any type of food like this I was not completely sure what it was supposed to taste like, but I knew for a fact that it was delicious. Next up we have their Shah Fries. These fries came with some jalapeños, bell peppers, and some type of thin green sauce, not really sure what it was called. It was like no other fries I had ever had, they were unique and delicious in their own way. In the end, I had an amazing experience here and just by walking in I knew I would love it, the smell of the food was once again amazing. If you are ever in the area I would definitely recommend you giving it a try, they have many other amazing items on the menu.

I was out and about doing errands one day in the surrounding town of Vacaville, CA and decided to stop by and give this restaurant, Burger City, a try. The atmosphere of this place was very much welcoming. There were two women who were running both the cashiers and the counters, and they were very polite and welcoming. Like many other businesses, this place does require you to wear a face mask, but most important the employee’s do an amazing job of sanitizing after every visit. After staring and thinking long and hard about what I should order, I decided to try out their Super Godzilla Burger, and by the picture I inserted below you could tell why it was given that name. This burger was a literal beast, which was topped with many items. These items included a double patty, sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, grilled onions, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, Swiss cheese, and obviously some of the other basic works. All of these in the middle of two yummy steak buns. The burger tasted amazing and was very juicy, was not dry like other burgers, and it was presented perfectly. As much fun as it was to get to try something new out, I definitely recommend you getting plenty of napkins, because it can get very messy. Once again this place had great customer service, delicious food, and some very affordable prices. This place is a a restaurant and bar, and although I could not try any alcoholic beverages since I am under age I will definitely be going back when I can legally drink and give those alcoholic beverages a try. They do have Dine-In services as well as Curbside Pick- Up, and Delivery, so they accommodate everyone. If you are ever in the Vacaville are and are craving a good burger you could not go wrong with giving this place a try.

The Angry Bird Hot Chicken:

After seeing one of my close friends post this restaurant on their social media, I knew I had to give this place a try. This restaurant is not like your typical chicken burger plac, like Chick-Fil-A, etc. What makes The Angry Bird Hot Chicken stand out from its competition is that their food is Nashville style food, which means that their food is spicy and delicious. Their restaurant was very clean and the employee’s were friendly and helped in my decision making. The restaurant happens to use many different herbs and ingredients to make their food. Their menu is simple, making it easy for their customers to choose which type of food they would want to order, you will not be overwhelmed. They offer 4 different combo orders to choose from as well as 7 side orders to choose from. They also have different heat levels that range from Country no heat to Angry sign a waiver. Also, they have up to 6 selections of drinks you could get. If you are a spice lover then definitely go for the Angry sign a waiver, but since it was my first time I went ahead and went with the mild. The mild was just enough heat for me, but I will definitely be kicking it up a notch next time. And if you aren’t to sure about your spice level, the employee’s are friendly enough to give you a sample in order to find just the nice spice kick you need. I went ahead and ordered the Number 1 Combo, which came with two chicken sandwiches and some fries. These yummy sandwiches were loaded up with some coleslaw, pickles, and some of their secret sauce. Their fries were also tasty, they were seasoned with some Nashville hot seasoning and were very crispy. Once the food came out it was hot and delicious, they were very fast. The combo meals only range from 11 to 12 dollars and you will be getting what you paid for. They unfortunately do not have Dine-In, but do offer some alternatives which include Take-Out and No-Contact Delivery, which is perfect for all you introverts.

La Michoacana Plus:

La Michoacana is a perfect place to stop by if you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth. This place’s menu is ridiculous, it ranges from Paletas de Agua (Water based popsicles), Paletas de Leche (Milk based popsicles), Nieves de Leche (Milk based Ice Cream), Snacks, Nieves de Agua (Water based Ice Cream), Aguas Frescas, Mangonadas, and that’s just the titles of the menu. They have more than 50 different types of flavors for their ice cream and more than 100 different flavors of popsicles. There snacks include Elotes (Corn), Nachos, Papas (Chips), etc. I’ve gone quite a few times and have tried the Mangonada’s, Oreo Nieve de Leche, Tostilocos, Chicharron Preparado, etc. The best part about the Mangonada’s are that they don’t just come in a mango flavor, they come in Limón, Tamarindo, Fresa, etc. I personally love the traditional mango flavor. They then top off the Mangonada with some chopped mangos (if you get the mango flavor), Chamoy (spicy candy sauce), and a straw that has hard chamoy around it. The tostilocos are also very delicious, they are tortilla chips with some Japanese Peanuts, Chamoy, Cueritos (Pickled Pork Rinds), Cucumber, Jicama, Tajin, Valentina Hot Sauce, and Lime Juice. Also on the list of delicious snacks is the Chicharron Preparado which includes a big piece of Fried Pork Rind of Flour which is then topped off with some Sour Cream, Cabbage, Tomatoes, Avocado, Cotija Cheese, and some Valentina Hot Sauce. This place hits the spot for anyone, but even better when you have three pregnant sisters, I always find myself at this place because of them. The employees are so nice and polite, they are also very patient when we make large orders. If you do decide to make a large purchase, they have a wheel you spin when you spend a certain amount and you can receive a prize which is pretty cool. It is COVID safe, employee’s wear their masks and switch gloves after each order. Although they do not have indoor seating do not let that stop you from giving them a try, you will not regret it.

While visiting Reno, NV with my family I had the pleasure of eating at this amazing restaurant. I do not normally go for these types of restaurants, but my nephew loves this type of food and I am glad we got to try it on our visit. Ijji 2 is a Japanese grill where they serve some hibachi and sushi rolls. It is located a bit far from where my usual reviews are located, but even on vacation you have to eat, especially on vacation! Not only are you having a meal, but you receive quite the entertainment. This is because the chef’s cook right in front of you. They not only cook you some delicious food, but they have fun while cooking it. They will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your visit. They have Lunch Specials which are served with soup, salad, and steamed rice; Dinner Entrees which are served with Ijji special soup, Ijji salad, steamed rice, and an appetizer; and Ijji Special Entrees which are served with Ijji special soup, Ijji salad, steamed rice, and an appetizer. They also serve sushi and their menu consists of Mango Spider, Newport, Dynamite, Double Action, and many more. Their menu is super long, so it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to eat, but I was very satisfied with what I chose. I had the Ijji Combo, which is your choice of two Ijji favorites: chicken, beef, vegetables, noodles, shrimp. or calamari. I chose the chicken and beef which was served with a side of fried rice. Everything was so delicious. The beef and chicken were both so good, normally you expect the meat you choose to be very dry but in this case it was juicy and easy to chew! If you decide to give this place a try you will not regret it because you receive some delicious food and the chef’s are amazing.

Boudin SF:

Boudin SF is originally from San Francisco, CA but I am so glad that there is one even closer to home because man this place is just amazing. Their menu consists of Sandwiches, Soups, Chilis, Grain Bowls, Crisp Salads, Baguette Burgers, Sourdough Pizzas, and Grilled Cheese. The most popular items on the menu are the Tomato Soup, Fish Bread, and Clam Chowder. I decided to play it safe and go for one of the popular items on the menu, which was the Clam Chowder and they serve in a big sourdough bread bowl. This place is by far the best when it comes to Clam Chowder. I say this because I am not really a big fan of Clam Chowder, but this place is the only way I will eat it, weird right? I am super excited by the fact that they opened a Boudin SF close to my hometown and convenient because it will still be closer when I move away for college and I do not have drive all the way to San Francisco to get some yummy Clam Chowder. The food not only tastes delicious, but it looks that way too. Which is great for social media posts. Like most businesses, Boudin SF does require both its employees and customers to use face masks. Their employees are even required to disinfect surfaces through visits. Also, there are safety dividers to remain COVID friendly while dining. If dine-in is not an option for you then guess what? They do offer Curbside Pickup, Takeout, and Delivery (contact and no contact). This restaurant may be busy but you have to give it a try if ever in the area. It’s perfect because its located close to the mall, so you can follow up with some shopping, or shop first and follow up with some yummy food.
